Famous People and Historical Figures

A significant part of cultural accumulation in Bodrum history depends on famous people and historical figures who contributed in local community with either their names or active efforts.

From antiquity to modern times, historians, writers, musicians and kings had worked hard to change the destiny of this small city. I believe, we owe a debt to those people who made it lasting for thousands of years.

In reality, there are a lot more people who are working around the clock to make Bodrum a better place. They all are heroes fighting to preserve nature and cultural values against so called modernization and greedy investors who try to take advantage of income possibilities of such a popular tourism centre. These heroes are true Bodrum lovers.

They care because they love. I have witnessed amazing efforts of locals, societies and even tourists like you to protect natural, historical and cultural richness of this ancient town. It is not possible to name them all but I’d like to thank them one by one for their extraordinary hard work and determination.

Back to the history now…

Famous People of Bodrum History

There had been some famous people and historical figures in Bodrum history whose names have been recalled with this lovely Aegean town over the centuries. Their memories, contributions or works helped Bodrum to develop and gain reputation as a well-known worldwide tourism and culture destination of Turkey.

In my opinion, it is extremely important to know about them to be able to fully understand local culture and Turkey alike. More importantly, I feel that it is my responsibility to remember their names by mentioning whenever it is possible like Bodrumians always do.
